STUDY FINDS ADAPTIVE REUSE COULD UNLOCK BILLIONS for dtla's economy

A recent study by Downtown Works (DTWX), conducted with BAE Urban Economics, Gensler, and CBRE, warns that Downtown Los Angeles faces a potential $84 billion economic loss over the next decade if office vacancies remain unaddressed. The report highlights how converting vacant office buildings into housing could add $12 billion in assessed property value, generate $2 billion in new economic activity, create thousands of much-needed homes, and support over 1,600 jobs annually.

This study outlines actionable steps for the City to modernize policies and unlock the economic and social benefits of adaptive reuse.
